Morphed animation of the developing chick heart. The heart starts out as a single tube. During development, a complex process of looping and wedging of the primitive heart tube brings the venous pole and the atria to a dorsal position, whereas the eventually separated outflow tract gains an anterior position, wedged in between both atrial appendages.
