Video 1.4 - The "pulmonary push" concept (2)

The “pulmonary push” concept. Asymmetric contribution of myocardium at the outflow tract of the heart from the second heart field results in lengthening of the pulmonary trunk (blue), whereas the aorta (red) remains relatively short. This lengthening of the myocardium of the pulmonary trunk will "push" the pulmonary trunk to its final position left anterior with respect to the aorta, which does not receive this myocardial contribution from the second heart field.
