Video 23.4 - Transcatheter closure of a muscular VSD
Transcatheter closure of a muscular VSD. The patient has a muscular VSD as part of a complex lesion in association with congenital heart block for which he is paced. The patient’s jugular vein and femoral artery are cannulated, the VSD is crossed from the left ventricular side and a stable “rail” is created by snaring the wire in the pulmonary artery. Scene 1 demonstrates this rail. The device is introduced through the jugular venous sheath and its distal umbrella is released across the defect (scene 2). The device is then released from its delivery cable and a left ventricular angiogram demonstrates that it is well positioned (scene 3).
